Creating the next generation of theatre professionals.
The Black Hills Playhouse and USD are dedicated to creating the next generation of theatre professionals and stimulating young people through quality arts experiences. Students chosen to work at BHP are able to obtain college credit while building their resumes for the future.
Whether students want to act in Shakespeare festivals, musical theatre or television/film; design scenery, costumes, lighting or sound for the stage and screen, manage teams of artists as a director, stage manager or production manager, or serve as an educator/artist, USD and BHP help students put their talent to work and realize their dreams. The USD Theatre Department offers the following degree programs:
Undergraduate B.F.A.:
The USD Theatre Season consists of four productions each year. Participation in theatre productions is open to students at all levels and from all disciplines. The Arena Theatre Series and SD Shakespeare Festival provide additional opportunities for students.
We encourage students to contact us with any questions or to come and visit our campus, sit in on our classes or see USD productions.
