2013 BHP Room Service
Community Service Project Continues at the Black Hills Playhouse
Are you a handy person who knows how to fix things? Do you like to decorate, paint or work with interior design? Do you love live theater? If so, BHP ROOM SERVICE, is just the kind of project for you!
Every summer, the BHP hires and houses approximately 65 theater students and professionals from around the country to provide high quality entertainment in Custer State Park. Almost $700,000 worth of improvements have been made to the facility and the grounds and more are on the way for 2013. Last year’s Room Service project was a huge success. Volunteers renovated 35 rooms and received much praise and adulation from every one of our BHP Company members.
How can you or your company help? The staff housing dormitories have been in use for more than 30 years, and are showing their age. We’re looking for volunteers who would be interested in providing materials and renovating these rooms to make life a little more comfortable for the artists who give us their all…all summer long. It can be as simple as putting up a fresh coat of paint, making simple repairs and providing a new bed, desk or carpet, or as in-depth as replacing drywall or flooring; the depth depends on you.
Work on the rooms must be accomplished in May 18th of 2013 before the cast and crew arrive for the season. Rooms generally need new mattresses on beds, upgraded furnishings, paint, window covers and small repairs. Interested? Please contact Jason Reuter jreuter@blackhillsplayhouse.com or on the phone at (605) 255-4910 and let us know you want to join this dynamic group.
